Bio: My name is Danielle Berkman and I am a New Yorker through and through. I love the hustle and bustle of living in a city, so moving to Storrs, CT is going to be quite the transition for me. I attended undergrad at Stonehill College in MA, which is where I discovered my passion for Higher Education and Student Affairs. While I was initially on a path to pursue a career in law, I soon realized I had a talent and a passion for student affairs work.

During my time as an undergrad I’ve held positions in residence life, career services, intercultural affairs, student conduct, admissions, and the president’s office. Gaining experience in each of these areas has provided me with a well-rounded perspective of the profession and has also allowed me to better understand the importance of student affairs within higher education institutions. One of my personal goals as I enter the profession is to pay it forward by helping those students, like myself, who come from underrepresented backgrounds by providing them with the same access to opportunities and experiences as their peers.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, listening to R&B hits of the 90s, following more food and travel accounts on Instagram than people, binge watching shows on Netflix, and volunteering. My travels have taken me to Mexico, Peru, Spain, Italy, France, and Morocco. I hope to keep adding to that list in the future and do some more traveling within the U.S. as well. I’m thrilled to be joining the UConn HESA family this fall and soon call myself a Husky!
